iTunes Store – “For Educators” Section

I was really excited to learn today that Apple has created a new section in the iTunes Store just for educators.  It is rich with a fantastic collection of apps, iTune U courses, iBooks, and other really useful educational resources.  What a fantastic idea for teachers trying to incorporate technology such as iPads into the classroom.

Previous to this, there have been sections in the App Store for students that will recommend resources based on grade level (elementary, junior high, high school, etc).  However, there has never, in the past, been a section that combines so many resources aimed directly at educators.  This new section will recommend apps, iTune U courses, iBooks, and other educational resources for educators that can be used easily in the classroom.  One of the resources that caught my eye was one on student authored books on iTunes.

The For Educators page is designed to be a great first place to go for various collections of interest to those professionals in the field of education.  With a simple cursory glance I was able to find lesson ideas, activities, courses, and professional development materials.

I think this is a great move by Apple and I would encourage you all to take a look for yourself.  Below are a couple of screenshots of the great collection of material in this new section.
